Summary

In the seventh year of Tianqi era during the Ming dynasty, an imperial guard Shen Lian of the Northern Administrative Court tries to save painter Bei Zhai and kills his fellow-guard Ling Yunkai by accident. He deals with questions and investigations from Lu Wenzhao and Pei Lun, while being blackmailed by a mysterious woman to set fire to the Imperial Archives.
