Why play it

6180 the moon is a platformer game with a unique mechanic. It offers a fresh, unseen gameplay style by connecting the top and bottom of the screen. This allows in a mechanic with delightfully long jumps and no fear of 'slipping' to death. In addition to the unique gameplay, 6180 the moon delivers a unique storyline. The Sun has gone. The Moon sets off on a journey to find the Sun. Along the journey will be hazardous courses and deep realizations. This game was co-created by South Korea's Indie Game Studios, Turtle Cream and PokPoong Games. The fantastic music was provided by Merry Go Sound.

6180 the moon is a dreamlike journey through the stars, where every individual component of its delicate soundtrack, minimalist visuals and graceful gameplay mechanics work together to form an extremely compelling experience. [OpenCritic note: Conor McMahon separately reviewed the Wii-U (9) and Switch (8) versions. Their scores have been averaged.]

Despite it being disappointingly short, 6180 the Moon offers a fun and challenging puzzle platforming experience with a unique mechanic that’s right at home with the 3DS.

6180 the moon is an original and well thought game that blends puzzles and platforming around a concept centered on the action shifting from one screen to another. While in some moments this might cause a certain confusion when the player has to switch focus back and forth between the television and the Wii U GamePad, the levels are well built and the difficulty, while not being too high, will pose a satisfying challenge.

6180 the moon on the Wii U eShop is a short, but enjoyable and incredibly unique 2D puzzle/platformer that makes great use of the GamePad's second screen.

The title's biggest accomplishment lies within its gameplay mechanics and how this Wii U version is set up. The GamePad functionality seems simple at first glance, but it is a true game changer in motion. It must be witnessed to be believed!.

Unfortunately… there's not much in the way of replayability – once you've completed the levels, there's no reason to come back as you have no high scores, time trials or leaderboards to beat

Providing an action platformer that is challenging but doesn't feel cheap is something that many games suffer from. 6180 the moon manages to overcome this challenge gracefully.
