Ace Attorney Investigations Collection

One of Capcom's most handsome Ace Attorney remasters to date, the Investigations Collection brings welcome improvements to some longstanding series weaknesses, but divorcing it from its courtroom setting and structure is its biggest and most fatal flaw.

The Ace Attorney Investigations games are oddities. They're Ace Attorney games without the best thing about Ace Attorney games. They're a fresh start with a different protagonist, but you need to have played the old games to get the most out of them. The wider appeal seems limited here, but for existing fans of the franchise there's plenty to enjoy.

Ace Attorney Investigations Collection is the last of the Ace Attorney Switch remakes, but certainly not the least of them. Just make sure you're up-to-date on Ace Attorney 1-3 first, or you'll miss out on half the fun. The first game doesn't quite feel up to par with the series' best, but Investigations 2 certainly does, and might even be one of our favourites. We'll hold it! (heh) in our hearts forever.

Capcom's done right by Ace Attorney in recent years, bringing it to modern platforms with a few convenient enhancements and in the doing, adding dozens of hours more of some of gaming's best storytelling to enjoy.

No objections here! The Ace Attorney Investigations Collection are an incredible pair of games, and worthy spin-offs from the main series.

While every other Ace Attorney title released to modern systems before this did see a good number of improvements, Investigations by far surpasses them and even gives fans a welcome inclusion as well.

Capcom’s decision to finally localise Prosecutor's Gambit is a tacit acknowledgment of fan dedication and an unspoken apology for its decade-long absence. The result is a collection that completes a vital piece of the Ace Attorney canon, proving that the wait was ultimately worth it. This superb duology is a must-own for any adventure game enthusiast or for anyone who enjoys tense stories about battles of wits and cunning. Sometimes, the most epic showdowns are two people outsmarting each other in a courtroom.

While Investigations may include some of the usual caveats associated with the series, and those who have played all the releases in short order may be readily burned out, it is nonetheless a very appreciated opportunity and still overall highly enjoyable pair of titles that include some of the series’ best cases.

Fans of Miles Edgeworth can finally rejoice, as Ace Attorney Investigations Collection is a fantastic set of beloved and previously unavailable adventures that delight all over again. Next time, can we have a brand new adventure, please?
