For a game priced at $6.99 USD, Achilles: Survivor absolutely offers some lightweight fun. There's a generous roster of characters, a serviceable progression system, and a clever idea in its structure-building mechanics. Combined with run-based auto-combat, it can be a pleasant enough background game, something to play while listening to a podcast or unwinding for a few minutes. But as a full package, it struggles. The grind sets in too quickly, the objectives often feel arbitrarily punishing, and the presentation leans heavily toward bland. Its mythological theme could've elevated the entire experience, yet it never meaningfully interacts with the gameplay. On Switch specifically, the performance hiccups hold the game back even more. Achilles: Survivor isn't a disaster, but it's also far from realizing the potential of its concept. If you're curious about Greek mythology or want a low-cost survivor-like with a small twist, you might find a few hours of entertainment here. If you're on the fence, though, you're probably better off choosing a more polished entry in the genre.

Effectively mixes Vampire Survivor action with some tower defense concepts to create something refreshing and quite smart, but sluggish

Achilles: Survivor does not reach the heights of the genre, but offers a solid, satisfying experience capable of providing hours of fun for those who love survivors-like, and also Greek mythology.

Although there’s no doubt that Achilles: Survivor is built on the foundation of Achilles: Legends Untold, it has its own and very definite identity.

Achilles: Survivor establishes itself as a survival roguelike that respects the genre's roots while also offering unique elements to set it apart. The use of Greek mythology, the structure-building mechanics, and the rewarding progression system give the game a unique edge that keeps players engaged for hours.

Achilles: Survivor is a cracking roguelite. The mix of frantic action, clever building mechanics and mythical atmosphere makes it one of the most compelling bullet hell games I’ve played in the past year. Yes, the bosses are a bit drawn-out and the onboarding could be better, but the core gameplay is so strong. At €6.99, it’s actually a no-brainer to just pick it up.

Achilles: Survivor is a 3D action game with a top-down view in which we control Achilles and other characters from ancient Greece in a game where we have to defeat waves of enemies in order to advance, and at times engage in more epic battles against bosses.

Achilles Survivor is an exceptionally polished and moreish title that nestles in with the likes of Vampire Survivors and other popular roguelikes in the genre. This one has some unique aspects, including building structures that assist you in the heat of battle. It blends tower defence strategy with fighting hordes, which I haven’t yet seen with any other similar experiences. For the same price as the average pint of beer here in the UK, it is well worth a punt for several hours of fun.
