Age of Empires 3: Definitive Edition preserves for posterity the core of this weirdest 00s RTS experiments while making some much-needed changes. Love it or hate it, the definitive edition is Age of Empires 3 amplified.
Read full review ↗A modest remaster of a fun but flawed RTS that's stuck in the ever-lengthening shadow of its predecessor.
Read full review ↗Age of Empires III: Definitive Edition still possesses some of the original game's flaws, but also builds on a lot of its charms in ambitious and satisfying ways.
Read full review ↗Age of Empires III: Definitive Edition is an undeniable and great improvement on the original. Featuring a huge amount of content, including some brand-new game modes, as well as a revamped and improved portion of the original campaign, there's a lot on offer. The AI is improved, though does have a few niggles here and there. Particularly so with pathfinding. This issue is overwhelmed by the amount of content on offer, great improvements to the aesthetics of the game, improvements to multiplayer as well as changes to the home city system outside of the campaign. While not as outright fantastic as Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition, this is still a brilliant release and comes in at a very low price.
Read full review ↗Age of Empires III: Definitive Edition is a well-executed, modernized update of a classic RTS game. It enhances the original with updated graphics, a refined interface, new civilizations, gameplay modes, and built-in expansions—all without breaking the core experience. The familiar gameplay loop of gathering resources, building armies, and strategic battles remains satisfying, with multiplayer still being the game’s main strength. While not revolutionary, this edition is polished, reasonably priced, and offers plenty of content for both veterans and newcomers.
Read full review ↗Age of Empires III: Definitive Edition is a nice overall upgrade. Much better visuals, an actually decent UI, new content – it’s not perfect, but if you liked the original, this is the way to go.
Read full review ↗Of course, these are not be able to change the opinion of the older fans with regards to the title, who will always prefer the slightly more complicated second instalment in the series.
Read full review ↗No matter who you play as Strategy is the name of the game and you have to be somewhat quick about everything. It’s important to remember that while you are gathering resources to build your Civilization up, your enemies may have started at a magnificent spot lush with resources and maybe getting ready to invade surrounding areas. I remember having the ability to speed up or slow down the game in earlier versions of the game, if that feature is in AOE3, I could not find it.
Read full review ↗If you’ve got fond memories of this series, then the Definitive Edition of AoE 3 will hook you good. This new model looks and sounds great, there’s a ton of new battlefields to conquer, and new ways to do that conquering.
