Alterium Shift

Alterium Shift is an interesting RPG that takes you across different worlds in a traditional adventure. Three different protagonists gives you a new perspective on the same story. However, navigation proves to be difficult and it feels like you are shoehorned into specific paths. There’s a lot of potential but also a lot of refining.

Alterium Shift certainly has some excellent ideas and you can see that the developers love and know the world of JRPGs well. Perhaps they are tied too much to that world and inevitably bring into their game the defects and dynamics of games created almost 30 years ago. However, this is not a final judgment because the game is still in early access and the story ends exactly at the best moment. We have to take into account whether the mechanics and ideas will hold up throughout all the title and whether the rough edges will be fixed.

Alterium Shift is a good JRPG with an interesting persistent world mechanic, good art design and an excellent soundtrack, but which unfortunately lacks in several aspects in terms of gameplay and narrative.
