There may not be enough here to get people to jump into the origins of the Tekken franchise, but it has to be said that there is still something satisfying about a fighting game that is devoid of flashy effects, super meters and ridiculous combos that require intense thumb movements and memorisation to pull off. Just know that the content most will be used to seeing in the PS1 version isn’t present here.
Read full review ↗Unfortunately, Tekken 1 is a fighting game that hasn't aged very well, and even with the Arcade Archives 2 additions, it doesn't quite convince me enough to move it out of the “yellow” category. Still, I'd probably recommend it over the PS1 version, unless you absolutely can't do without the bonus characters.
