The original virtual reality tactical game came to PC in traditional form without VR. And it wasn't a bad move, although this game dominates especially in VR.

Lack of challenge and concessions in gameplay depth hold Augmented Empire back from being as appealing to strategy genre veterans and those who like their games to put their skills to the test. Thankfully, the interesting approach to decision-making and the world of New Savannah make up for these deficiencies, making this indie title a solid augment to invest your time in.

With its slick sci-fi narrative and enjoyable tactical gameplay, Augmented Empire is still worth your time six-years on from its initial release. Sure, the gameplay can run out of steam in the later hours and it’s a shame that the world doesn’t offer more interactivity, but it still brings a beautiful cyberpunk world to uncover and some engaging strategic combat that utilises mixed reality in an immersive and entertaining fashion.

Augmented Empire on Quest 3/3S is a compelling tactical RPG that successfully marries deep storytelling with engaging gameplay mechanics. The mixed reality implementation feels natural and adds a new layer of immersion to the tactical genre. While some minor control issues exist, they don't significantly detract from what is otherwise an excellent package.

Augmented Empire is a solid game that is worthy of exposure to a larger audience than when it was first released. If turn based strategy games with great production values and an intriguing story and characters sounds enticing, then you should definitely check out Augmented Empires.
