Why play it

Get up before dawn and see what it's like to be a baker! Learn to bake several dozen types of bread. Use realistic bakery machines. Deliver orders to stores, earn and invest. Use original recipes or experiment and create your own.

Story and worldbuilding

The fun begins with choosing a place to rent for your bakery. Then we have to take care of the most important equipment of our business, such as the oven and fermentation chamber, shelves or tools. There is nothing else left for us to do but to proceed with the execution of orders, which are gradually beginning to arrive to us from nearby shops and restaurants. This requires you to choose the ingredients yourself, beat and form the dough and finally put it in the properly heated oven for a certain amount of time; in addition, our shoulders are responsible for manually loading the goods into the truck and delivering it to our customers on time.

Bakery Simulator feels like a beefed-up mini game you'd find in another mid-tier title. While there are fun elements, some gameplay mechanics and technical issues indicate that the recipe needs to be adjusted. In the meantime, think carefully before opening up shop.

Bakery Simulator may not be a pretty title, a good-sounding title, and, in particular, not one that works perfectly. Nevertheless, it makes up for it with relaxing gameplay. Creating bread and warm buns, and delivering them to your homes so you have something to eat, was an incredibly engaging and enjoyable experience. I will lovingly revisit this title, but given the slight repetitiveness after unlocking everything, it won't happen all that often. Is this title worth purchasing? I think so, especially if you're looking for a way to relax and the sight of fresh, warm bread makes you happy.

Unfortunately, Bakery Simulator is a prime example of how a once-good game can be ruined. We’ve mostly gotten used to the fact that smaller studios aren’t always able to fix certain flaws, and we’re willing to forgive them for many minor missteps. Bakery Simulator, however, is not one of those cases, and if the developers are unable to tweak the movement mechanics to a more tolerable level, I’d rather remove this aspect entirely—or, at worst, leave it as is. The solution Live Motion Games offered its players, however, was more like the studio shooting itself in the foot, which eventually came back to haunt them. If you can get past this aspect and are satisfied with just moving around your bakery, you’ll get a good game that can keep you entertained for hours. Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to get past this problem, and for this reason, I’m giving Bakery Simulator a mere five out of ten points.

If you thought baker's work was fun, Bakery Simulator would convince you otherwise.

Bakery Simulator lets you experience all the work that goes into running a bakery all on your own without the dishes. The controls can get very frustrating when racing against the clock to get the order out!
