Blockbuster Inc. is an ambitious simulator offering plenty of possibilities for creative players who enjoy tinkering with details and crave control over an entire film studio. This title is packed with details and offers a truly wide range of options, from building the studio to setting up individual film scenes. Despite minor shortcomings in the graphics and soundtrack, it’s a solid game that will appeal to fans of the genre. If you’re looking for a comprehensive and immersive simulation of the film industry, Blockbuster Inc. is definitely worth considering. Just be prepared for the game to consume you for dozens of hours as you fine-tune every detail of a film and build your own Hollywood empire. The question remains whether it will keep you entertained over the long term, or if it will become just another forgotten blockbuster. That’s something everyone has to decide for themselves. For now, however, it’s definitely one of the most sophisticated film studio simulators on the market.
Read full review ↗With only a small team of developers, Super Sly Fox has managed to create a modern filmmaking tycoon game that gives you all the tools to build your own successful film studio. However, the game lacks the depth to keep you glued to the director's chair for dozens of hours. Blockbuster Inc. is a beautiful ode to both the magical world of filmmaking and management games. But after a while, the game becomes very repetitive, lacks any real challenge, and fails to motivate players to continue creating new films.
Read full review ↗Blockbuster Inc. is a great business management sim for both players new to business management simulators and veterans looking for something more relaxing. There is a lot to do and build in the game that will keep you busy for hours on end.
Read full review ↗For what stands, it is just better to go back and play the original The Movies game as it provides more content and freedom over players’ choices. As for Blockbuster Inc., I’d say there is still time for it to be worked on before a full release. The mix of lacking options and ease of dominating the whole business might just throw off people right away. Since there are a very small amount of people who are working on pushing updates for Blockbuster Inc., it might take some time until it provides a worthy time to invest your time in, but for now, it is better to just stick to originals.
Read full review ↗I’m not kidding when I say that the possibilities are endless in Blockbuster Inc. Players have the freedom and tools to create a movie of their dreams. With a large variety of costumes, sets and more at their disposal there are thousands of films to be made here. It can be almost overwhelming if I’m honest, however the game has a great tutorial that will help to ease players into the swing of things. I loved my time with Blockbuster Inc, filled that hole that The Movies had left so long ago. Its awesome to see this underserved genre in gaming seeing a resurgence; Hollywood Animal, Movie Tycoon among others, has fans of movie-making games eating good this year. Don’t sleep on Blockbuster Inc, as the first one out the gate; its an utter blast to play and create movies in this world.
Read full review ↗Blockbuster Inc. is a tough nut to crack. It's a game that allows us to create our “dream” movies and is extremely engaging. Unfortunately, it's also a title full of ill-considered decisions and chaotic gameplay. To make things worse, the repetitive nature of the game elements makes us start to feel weary after just a few hours.
Read full review ↗While the film making simulator is fun, it's both lacking in content and buried under a huge, boring management simulator that dilutes the magic of movies.
Read full review ↗As a revival of sorts for this particular niche of management games, Blockbuster Inc. has the chops to impress when viewed from the right lens. Its trading of grand management for more focused endeavours is something to be appreciated, and who doesn’t love the idea of making films that are blockbuster hits and creating stars out of nothing? Of course, they could very well stab you in the back and jump ship, but that is the name of the game, after all. While there are flaws, the other good things it has going for it make this game well worth checking out, just like that indie film everyone is raving about but you just haven’t gotten the chance to enjoy just yet.
Read full review ↗Blockbuster Inc. requires a lot from you, but has the potential to give even more back if you invest the time to master the art of the masterpiece.
Read full review ↗While the game isn't quite an Oscar winner, it's certainly good enough to be nominated, bringing a fresh take on classic mechanics in a very satisfying way. It offers so much room for players to be creative, and with future plans for new features and content packs, that potential has even more room to grow. For long-time fans of the genre, Blockbuster Inc. is arguably a must-play, and newcomers will likely find a lot to enjoy too.
