Bonito Days is a super cute and simple game that is reminiscent of Super Monkey Ball, but with camera issues and short single-player game it's hard to fully recommend.

Sometimes a minigame is so good, so pure, that it inspires someone to make something truly special. The folks at Studio Somewhere loved Monkey Target from Super Monkey Ball so much, they developed an entire game around it. With a little bit of NiGHTS into Dreams and a relaxing city pop soundtrack for good measure, Bonito Days is a great way to unwind after a long day. Some gamers may want more modes, but as it is, there's nothing to get in the way of the gameplay. As an elevated minigame, it's the perfect experience if you're looking to enjoy some chill vibes while flying around the beach for a few rounds at a time.

Bonito Days offers a fun experience that feels best enjoyed with friends and family though there is some fun to be had alone. For the most part, the game sets out what it aims to do. A simple relaxing party game that is designed more to chill out with rather than a challenge. Nothing wrong with this concept but had the game added a bit more depth to the gameplay this could have been something truly memorable. Maybe that game will come later but until then, this certainly falls comfortably into the category of a stress-free gaming experience.

We are all pining after those warm summer days when we would wake up without a care in the world. But they aren't gone just yet. Bonito Days on Nintendo Switch lets us live our best lives in a relaxing, city pop infused experience. These dark days won't last forever. For now, it's time to jump around and have some fun in the sun.

This is an odd one that initially filled me with hope, but then had enough small disappointments pile up that it slowly lost its luster...
