Why play it

Caligo tackles a theme that is both simple and profoundly complex: the essence of life and how we live it, exploring human will and the art of choice. Unlike narrative-driven games that rely on interactive gameplay or relative freedom, Caligo places its entire weight on storytelling, requiring players to move from point A to B solely to advance dialogues. However, its deceptively simple yet deeply philosophical narrative, combined with a meaningful final choice, stands as its strongest asset. If you are passionate about philosophy and have pondered the meaning of life, this one-hour experience comes highly recommended

The walking simulator genre as a whole tends to deal with life and death as a main topic, and few do it with as much visual and technical aplomb as here with Caligo. That said, the heavy duty narrative delivery, and occasionally underwhelming voice acting may mean that this is a game better suited to streamers who can have live existential discussions with their viewers as they unfold in-game as opposed to being a truly meaningful experience for a solitary player.

Caligo sets the bar high and fails to meet it. The graphics are beautiful, but come at the expense of poor optimization and a lackluster story that barely lasts 50 minutes
