Classified: France ’44 is one of the best in the genre and sits beside games like XCOM2 in terms of its quality and deep progressive gameplay loop. It handles brilliantly with a controller and plays buttery smooth on the Xbox Series X. The overall experience captures the era and timescale and sets the tone and mood with the atmosphere. There are areas of the game where it may not come across as pretty as perhaps it would do on Windows PC but I would highly recommend giving this one a shot especially if you’re a lover of turn-based strategy and have an avid interest in the historical element of War.

Unfortunately, it has also inherited some of their flaws, such as the possibility of missing an enemy at close range despite a 90% chance of hitting. Replayability is enhanced by the fact that France is divided into several regions controlled by three local factions, each offering different bonuses. Likewise, the character classes and their skill trees, with various specialization options, allow you to play the game in your own style. However, the game is held back by technical issues that still need to be fixed. For fans of the genre, this is a title that will definitely keep you entertained.

Absolutely Games debuts with a fun and enjoyable title that probably won't be memorable but is enjoyable throughout. Classified: France ’44 offers traditional turn-based strategy gameplay with some unique features that work and others that need more attention.

In the case of Classified, we are not talking about a brilliant, innovative concept of the genre of turn-based strategies, but rather about a solid use of already used and well-known mechanics and tools. Overall, the word "solid" describes the game perfectly.

Turn based team tactics is not a too common game type, and Classified: France '44 is a surprisingly delightful addition to the genre. It also does, what history inspired games do at their best: it sparks interest in a less known story from the war.
