Creature Keeper is a decent excursion for old-school RPG fans, but players seeking a more robust gaming experience may be left disappointed.

An off-beat monster collector romp through unfunny writing and cathartic action that has enough passion on display to warrant a pass, but struggles to plot its course beyond that.

Creature Keeper demonstrates a promising foundation, but it requires considerable refinement to truly realize its potential and become a consistently enjoyable adventure.

Overall my impression is that Creature Keeper has a lot of potential, and is an impressive accomplishment for a sole developer – and needs more time. However I was left disappointed by how significantly the bugs I experienced impacted on my gameplay, which is such a pity given how much Fervir has managed to achieve already. I would not recommend this in its current state and instead suggest we all wait and see. In recognition for what it gets right despite the bugs, 2/5 stars.

As far as monster collection games go, Creature Keeper is certainly an interesting one that does things differently than other titles in the genre. However, bugs and poor AI on the monsters themselves kept me from fully enjoying the experience and made my monsters feel more like pets than valuable combat companions.
