Dead Season

Dead Season is functional and fun at times but is let down by strange design choices and a repetitive campaign.

In this turn-based strategy game, you can dive into a rotting world of zombies and pull four survivors out of the mess. If you don't give up early. In the game, some elements are only superficial, and the bright parts tend to get in the way. But the content of the missions is excellent.

Dead Season is a short zombie romp through a tactical lens. It walks the line between tactical and accessible and doesn’t feel like it nails either side of the coin, so in the end, it comes off feeling a bit toothless.

‘Dead Season’, brought to you by solo-developers ‘Snail Bite’ and ‘Iceberg Interactive’, is an old-school turn-based zombie game that will have you on the edge of your seat as you use your strategic skills to make it through the endless hordes of zombies.

At a glance, there is something there with what Dead Season is trying to achieve. The premise has plenty of meat to offer, but that is contingent on the systems working well together to create real challenges that ultimately feel fair. It need not look or sound the best, but at the very least, it shouldn’t feel this unfair, even if we are facing the apocalypse of the undead horde.

Dead Season is a decent game for fans of the turn-based genre who like to feel that everything is a little bit hopeless.

All up, Dead Season is a fun mix of genres provided they’re in your wheelhouse. I very much enjoyed plunking away at a mission or two between titles like Until Dawn and Silent Hill 2 — again, all perfectly timed for the spooky season.
