Dysmantle

Dysmantle may not seem like much from its appearance but there is a highly addictive survival experience here. Survival games are often hit and miss, sometimes the survival elements are a bit too much and more often than not the experience eventually dissolves into tedium. But I didn’t get that here, I found myself pretty keen to boot this game up over and over and set off into the unknown to see what I discovered. While overall game progression is slow, you always seem to unlock something through every play session. I never felt in a hurry to get off the island. I was pretty content to take in everything on offer. If you’re looking for zombie-infested island adventure alone or with a friend, you can’t go wrong with Dysmantle. I highly recommend it!

While I’ve been able to be objective about survival games in order to attempt to give them an appropriately fair shake reviewing them I’ll freely admit that in general I’m typically not a fan of them...

DYSMANTLE is undoubtedly one of the best survival games of recent times. The developers have clearly shown us that simple graphics, controls, and gameplay mechanics are enough to create an entertaining game, as long as it offers diverse content. Another plus is that you can play the game in co-op mode with your friends.

Don't be fooled by the unassuming presentation of this indie title; Dysmantle is a monster that will have you in its grasp in no time. With an addictive destroy and craft loop, and a big open world full of intrigue and challenge, you'll be bargaining with yourself for just one last scavenger run every time. Elements such as combat, camera and graphics have obvious room for improvement, but there's no shortcoming that detract from just how involved you become with this game. Anyone looking to scratch that RPG itch with a new time sink seriously needs to consider purchasing Dysmantle soon.

DYSMANTLE is a dense survival adventure with many moving parts that come together very well for a tight experience, with a fun gameplay loop to get lost in. However, you can have too much of a good thing, and I think this can be the case over the very long run time of this game.

Dysmantle elevates somewhat shallow mechanics with a satisfying and addictive gameplay loop centered around exploration and character progression.

I thoroughly enjoyed my time with DYSMANTLE and am looking forward to exploring even more of its expansive zombie-infested world. If you take pleasure in crafting things while smashing up everything in sight, I highly recommend grabbing your crowbar and giving it a go.

In DYSMANTLE we have to survive an apocalypse where zombies populate the streets of the island where we are. We will have to make use of the available resources to advance and escape the island alive in this fun survival game.
