Why play it

Endless Dungeon is a Rogue-lite Tactical Action game, set in the award-winning Endless universe. Recruit a team of shipwrecked heroes, plunge into a long-abandoned space station, and protect your crystal against never-ending waves of monsters… or die trying, get reloaded, and try again.

Story and worldbuilding

Well, your ship is dead as a doornail and you're stuck on some spatial station that went to the dogs back before they knew how to bark. There's some folks been marooned here for decades, full of tall tales about what is and isn't; stories about how you might get out – or how you might be stuck here pretty much forever… It’s all on you to figure out what’s happenin’, team up with some other castaways, and survive a brand spanking new story in the Endless universe.

Endless Dungeon is simultaneously a great roguelite, a great twin-stick shooter, and a great tower defense game.

A touch too much repetition doesn't spoil this ambitious and elegant combo of run 'n' gun, tower defence, and roguelike.

Endless Dungeon is an entertaining, polished, and finely-tuned roguelike, expertly blending action and tactics to fill each trip with dozens of impactful micro-decisions. While visibility can be an issue during packed battles, presentation overall is bright and clean, and supported by some classy character design. Co-op play is the icing on an already tasty cake.

A very satisfying tower defence roguelike, except the "tower" has legs.

Endless Dungeon will have players coming for the unique blend of rip-roaring action and tower defense, but what should keep them around is the impressive and lovable cast of characters, along with their various stories to become invested in.

Published by Sega, Amplitude Studios' Endless Dungeon is a roguelike twin-stick shooter built around a tower defense mechanic. Featuring a range of playable characters who each come with their own nuances, the game's missions are taken on by squads of three, with players having to clear procedurally-generated levels while defending a special bot. Endless Dungeon can be played solo or in co-op.

Endless Dungeon tries to do a lot and is largely successful. However, the mix of genres and focus on roguelite elements over tower defense falls a bit flat in the crowded roguelite space. It provides a few hours of fun, especially with a friend, but Endless it is not.

ENDLESS Dungeon is an original and intriguing game that combines various genres into a unique and engaging experience. Opening doors and tactical tower placement add depth to the gameplay, and the ability to develop characters and their equipment motivates players to keep progressing. The excellent musical and visual design enhances the game’s atmosphere. Although the number of bosses and enemies could be expanded, the overall impression of the game remains positive.

Endless Dungeon has the potential to become that game you feel like playing away from competitive matches with friends, or the game you'll play a few rounds of while downloading that AAA title you've been eager to play. Highly recommended if you're looking for direct action and more than decent technical quality.

Endless Dungeon is packed with a ton of things that just make the game an absolute joy to play. The game has snappy and responsive combat, fun and varied gameplay that never feels grindy or repetitive, and just a great cast of characters. Though the single-player experience isn’t the game at its peak, it is definitely worth your time, and you won’t regret it.
