Enotria: The Last Song - Deluxe Edition

Enotria: The Last Song has fun combat and its sun-drenched environments are a breath of fresh air in the genre, even when the unapproachability of its RPG systems prevent it from taking center stage.

Italian folklore makes for a unique setting, but Enotria lacks the smooth combat and smart mechanics you'd look for in a decent soulslike.

I found myself circling bosses, trying to back them against a wall so my PC didn't have to render the scenic view on the other side of the arena.

Enotria: The Last Song, is ultimately another serviceable entry in the genre that can be embraced by Soulslike fans with a colorful aesthetic and original storyline. The clunky combat should annoy me more, but the game’s commitment to the bit won me over by the end. It may not always sing, but Enotria: The Last Song deserves credit for at least being able to carry a tune.

Enotria: The Last Song impresses with fun combat and stunning visuals, but a few technical issues and occasionally frustrating mechanics hold it back.

For fans of the genre, it's a highly recommended trip. And for those drawn to the artistic, its visual style and setting may be reason enough to give it a try.

Considering the studio was working on mobile games, this leap toward a Souls-like experience is a good one. Enotria: The Last Song has obvious weaknesses, but it also shines in moments and sections with the same sun that illuminates its lands. If you're not a fan of this type of game, this one can welcome you into a world full of challenges and suffering that's deeply satisfying. Aside from the bad and some of the flaky content, Enotria is a decent game, with its own soul and some innovative ideas, though it will undoubtedly be crucified by the most demanding players.

For me, it falls somewhere in the middle of the pack in terms of Souls games that I have played; I liked the old, and new, Lords of the Fallen better, and Lies of P — but Enotria is significantly better above Mortal Shell and Thymesia. Ultimately, I’m happy to recommend it.
