Why play it

Explore a retro 3D fantasy world in Essence Of The Tjikko.Wake up as a plant child at the bottom of a fantasy botanical lab. Eat seasonal fruits to unlock abilities, solve puzzles, and climb to the top in this Retro 3D zelda-like adventure.

Story and worldbuilding

You awaken at the bottom of an abandoned botanical laboratory, deep underground. You are a plant-child hybrid—part vegetation, part human—with no memory of how you arrived here or who you are. Your only instinct: seek the sunlight. The laboratory spans seven floors, each filled with enigmatic machinery, sentient plants, and environmental puzzles that blend nature with forgotten technology. A mysterious hummingbird companion guides your ascent, though its motives remain unclear. As you climb, you discover seasonal fruits that fundamentally transform you. Spring fruit grants water-bouncing abilities. Summer fruit ignites blazing speed. Autumn fruit reveals ethereal vision, exposing hidden paths through the ether. Winter fruit brings frosted jumping power. Each transformation changes not just your capabilities, but your very appearance. The facility's botanical experiments left strange hybrids and mechanisms behind. Computer terminals, cable cars, automated bridges—all overgrown and entangled with plant life. You must understand how each system works to progress upward. Thirty interconnected rooms separate you from daylight. Will you uncover your origins? Will you reach the surface? The only certainty: upward is the only way.
