In isolation, F1 24 remains a slick, deep, and marvellous motorsports experience, but it’s hard to argue it’s essential for returning players.

F1 24 is too familiar in many areas, but an overhauled Driver Career mode and emphasis on aggressive racing ensure that Codemasters' latest is still an engaging motorsports experience.

Less assured and sorely missing story mode, this feels like a downgrade over F1 23.

However, while F1 24 marks significant progress, it's not without its shortcomings. Persistent issues such as the lack of finesse in AI behavior and complexities in currency management detract slightly from the overall enjoyment. Moreover, support for enthusiast hardware remains inconsistent, and certain features like the absence of custom team entry in co-op career mode may disappoint some players. Despite these drawbacks, F1 24 remains a compelling choice for fans of the franchise, offering a thrilling and immersive racing experience worthy of consideration. F1 24 proves to be a worthwhile addition to the series, albeit with room for further refinement in future iterations.

The removal of content hurts this year's official Formula One game. F1 24 went in a bold direction with its physics, but now the game borders on a casual racer due to the lack of difficulty for simulating a Formula One car. Racing will be more aggressive because these cars stay glued to the track with minimal punishment for pushing the car. The graphics and audio options are where the game stands out the best. The ongoing bugs will continue to hamper the experience, so here's to hoping these things are addressed. It's neat to take one of the Legendary Drivers into the career mode, as Senna hasn't been playable in years in the series. The changes to Career Mode are subtle, but a good bit of the modes come down to the same experience previously seen or just a mode to get rewards or a high score. Maybe the overhaul needs to begin with focusing on current-generation systems.

Reviewing F1 24 is quite a difficult task, as there are several important aspects to consider. On the one hand, you get a career mode that’s been overhauled almost from the ground up, now offering you greater opportunities for career growth. On the other hand, however, the developers have introduced a modified driving model that leans a bit more toward arcade-style gameplay, which kind of hints that EA and Codemasters have decided to make this installment accessible to a wider audience. While this move may be positive for many, there will also be plenty of players who will hate it. We can therefore recommend F1 24 primarily to those fans and players who aren’t looking for a hardcore simulation and just want to relax while playing. For everyone else, I’d rather recommend checking out the older F1 23, which has a nearly perfect driving model. Seven out of ten.

The updated driving model isn't necessarily more comfortable, and makes the cars look a little more "pinned" to the tarmac in comparison to F1 2023, and certainly less realistic than what we see in the real sport.

EA F1 24 is the best rendition of the sport yet, and a fantastic simulation of the iconic motorsport. If you want to forge your own Drive To Survive-style superstardom, this is the perfect place to start. If it's good enough for Max Verstappen and Lando Norris, then it's good enough for the rest of us.

EA now has a lot to do to quickly correct an F1 24 that still has interesting potential, but which suffers enormously from its far too fast release pace, where an annual update between two opuses would allow the teams to breathe to offer a real finished game.

Overall, the new F1 24 game is a weaker addition to the series, it doesn't add much news this year, it doesn't even have a story mode, and the authors have changed the physics model. It is such a double-edged sword - on the one hand, it can please casual players, but disappoint more experienced simulation players.
