While Farming Simulator: Signature Edition hits a few bumps, I definitely enjoyed the variety of gameplay on offer, and it was fun trying to accomplish multiple tasks at once and min-max my time every day for maximum profit.

Farming Simulator 25 certainly has a niche and is detailed, but it is particularly satisfying for anyone who wants to try something different.

Highlands Fishing brings Farming Simulator 25 to the Scottish Highlands and introduces aquaculture and fish. The new Kinlaig map and the integration of fisheries into the economic cycle are top. Yet fishing itself remains too superficial and technically fickly to really convince. A nice extra for the avid farmer, but it is certainly not a full-fledged fish simulation.

Overall, Farming Simulator 2025 does not appear to be fully developed. For enthusiasts or gamers who are already well versed in farming - perhaps having played the predecessors - the obstacles mentioned may not be a major problem. For newcomers or people who like to learn by playing and want to switch off from a game, it might be more difficult to take this farming simulation to heart, as the gameplay is explained far too little and too poorly. This also detracts from the atmosphere of the game. Those who like elaborate technical animations and complex controls and are not put off by a bit of hard work will get their money's worth here. However, I would not give it a general recommendation, as the difference to its predecessor is not that great according to the player forums and many gamers recommend the 2022 version.

If you have already played a previous version of Farming Simulator, you will love the new features that you will find in this installment although they may not seem too much to you, on the other hand if you have never tried this simulator and you are interested in the theme, I invite you to join the virtual farming community, it takes a while to adapt, but it is well worth it.

Farming Simulator 25 is the latest addition to the series, enriching this now-legendary farming simulator with new crops—most notably rice cultivation—a greater emphasis on livestock farming, and, most importantly, the implementation of terrain deformation, which simply makes Farming a slightly more realistic simulator once again. Unfortunately, however, some aspects weren’t fully fleshed out, and for example, the aforementioned terrain deformation—which the developers talked about so much—has only a minimal impact on driving or physical properties and is, once again, practically just a visual texture, much like the snow in last year’s edition. Technically speaking, though, the world of virtual farming has taken a small step forward, even if I simply expected more from some of the new features. Seven and a half out of ten.

Farming Simulator 25 offers extensive experience with new crops such as rice and spinach, extra animals such as goats and water buffalo, and a renewed weather system with extremes such as hail showers and tornados. Players can completely run their farm at their own discretion and take advantage of cross-play multiplayer. Unfortunately, the game lacks sufficient guidance for newcomers, which makes the learning curve steeper. Technical problems such as graphic simplicity, frame drops and weak voice-acting undermine the experience, but the game offers enough strategic depth for long-term gameplay.

Whilst I did find the visuals of Farming Simulator 25 not much further ahead from what I played ten years ago, I did appreciate that the scope of the game has changed massively. Other games in the genre try and simulate farming environments but with the work of Giant’s Software, you won’t get any better than this one. The maps are vast in size and there is an unlimited amount of hours within this game with three huge areas to choose from, longevity is there. Bring with this the massive array of authentic farming equipment you can invest in, it is a paradise for farming enthusiasts.

Farming Simulator 25 is a logical continuation of the franchise. This opus offers improved visual management, new crops, animals and two new maps. With its GPS system, the series takes a big step towards accessibility, and tasks on our farm are much less tedious. Nevertheless, this edition doesn't reinvent the wheel, and series regulars may even feel that some new features are missing. Not to mention the fact that, even at the time of writing, there are still plenty of technical problems to contend with. The game remains a benchmark in the field, but may not be the revolution some players were expecting.

Farming Simulator 25 is the new iteration of the popular series developed by GIANTS Software, even richer and more complete than in the past. Complex and rewarding, if incredibly peaceful and relaxing once the mechanics are assimilated, the farming and livestock simulation reaches new heights with brand new biomes and crops, as well as a number of interesting updates and improvements. This is not a title for everyone; however, those looking for a different and relaxing experience will find a true bucolic paradise.
