Forever Skies' take on the post-apocalyptic survival genre is a refreshing one, balancing its airship-building mechanics with exploration and narrative trappings with ease.

Forever Skies has a great, relaxing core gameplay loop. The atmospheres are vibrant, but still provide the feeling of desolation and complete loneliness. It's very easy to dive into, once you get past the laggy and broken cutscene at the beginning of the game. Overall, Forever Skies is a great experience, and significantly less overwhelming than other games in this genre.

Forever Skies offers a relaxing survival experience with a unique atmosphere and an intriguing premise. However, its shallow gameplay loop lacks depth and urgency, making it easy to put down after a short session. While the game has charm, it struggles to stand out in a crowded genre full of similar titles.

Forever Skies fails to live up to my (admittedly high) expectations, but it does offer a new and exciting perspective in the survival/crafting genre. I enjoyed my time cruising around in my airship, but I definitely feel this could have used a few more months before releasing out of Early Access.

With its soaring concept and accessible systems, Forever Skies finds success where it counts – giving players a compelling, sky-bound sandbox to explore and make their own. It stumbles in depth at times, particularly when it comes to combat, but when the skies are this open, you won’t mind flying past a few rough patches. With continued updates and refinement, Forever Skies really has the potential to grow into something special. For now, it’s a polished, focused experience that knows what it wants to be – and mostly delivers.

Forever Skies stuns with its visuals, score, and storytelling—but its true magic lies in the freedom to build and pilot your own airship through a post-apocalyptic sky. It’s thrilling, thoughtful, and wrapped in a tight gameplay loop with real emotional weight. The launch had a few bumps, but with updates on the horizon, this game’s future is nothing but skyward.

Forever Skies is a slow burn of a game. Whilst the constant hunt for resources means you’ll never stay in one place for too long, it does take a while to start to feel like you’re actually making progress. That said, the environments were just begging to be explored and the often tranquil nature of the game made for a relaxing hunt for items, despite the frequent dangers of infection and beasts out for blood! Although it’s not always clear where to go or what to do next, the sense of discovery and satisfaction was a constant reward throughout. For these reasons, I’m giving Forever Skies a Thumb Culture Gold Award.

While it doesn’t reinvent the wheel, it delivers a satisfying loop of exploration, crafting, and progression — all centered around a well-designed airship that feels like a true companion. It lacks technical polish and suffers from repetitive environments, but its mood, pacing, and accessibility make it a worthy experience for those seeking a slower, more meditative survival journey.

Forbidden Skies is a gem of the survival genre but not a perfectly polished one. Due to technical hiccups and an overabundance of copy-paste places, it does not reach excellence, still it's well worth your time and money.
