With a running time of barely 3 hours, HFL is short but sweet, and with a little replayability by way of hidden collectibles, there is a little more you can eke out of it here and there.

I had a few laughs with HappyFunland but as a game, it's not fun at all and its irritating control issues really make it a challenge.

Amongst other things, there is a lack of good taste that could ensure a fun and balanced gaming experience. Instead, we have a game that doesn't know what it wants to be. As a result, every aspect of it is pretty bad. The action gameplay is dragged down by the physics, the horror rollercoaster by the lack of content, the social satire by the witless humour.

I had high hopes for HappyFunland, eager for a good virtual horror experience. Unfortunately, despite an interesting and well-crafted setting and intriguing narrative, Spectral Illusions' game comes across as very rough, with simply terrible combat that ruins the overall experience. It's a real shame because exploring the decrepit amusement park and delving into its lore shows great potential. Given its gameplay flaws and short duration, it's hard to recommend.
