Pulpy, fiercely animated and grimly righteous, Hell Clock does not want to take over your life, calling time on the avaricious ARPG grind in favour of a snacky, techy roguelite.

Hell Clock is a compelling, ever-expanding, surprisingly emotional ARPG roguelike that's well worth anyone's time, despite a few weak points.

Ultimately, Hell Clock is an audacious, chaotic, and hugely entertaining experience. Rogue Snail has carved out a unique identity by blending the crushing weight of historical tragedy with the addictive gameplay loops of modern action RPGs and roguelites.

The Brazilian game industry continues to gain recognition with projects that embrace a strong sense of identity, and Hell Clock is one of those games whose personality shines from the very first minutes. Instead of simply taking inspiration from the biggest names in the genre, Rogue Snail builds an experience that borrows familiar ideas while giving them its own distinctive signature. It was a pleasant surprise to discover a game that blends elements of Diablo and Hades so naturally, automating several actions to make combat feel even smoother while using one of the most significant events in Brazilian history as the backdrop for its adventure. More than just an excellent roguelike, Hell Clock demonstrates remarkable attention to its setting. Brazilian culture is present in the voice acting, expressions, dialogue, characters, and the way the entire narrative is constructed. These details bring players closer to the world being portrayed and give the adventure a personality that is difficult to find even in major international productions. It quickly became clear that this was exactly the kind of game I never realized I had been missing.

Hell Clock is certainly not for everyone, but it undoubtedly has its own specific target audience. As a roguelike, it doesn't deliver a bad experience, and had the developers invested more time in its story and internal logic, it could have become a genuinely good and memorable game.

Hell Clock is a fantastic roguelike, featuring beautiful art, engaging gameplay, a rewarding leveling system, and an intriguing story. If you’re looking for a roguelike that feels like a love letter to Diablo, this is one you shouldn’t miss.

Hellclock is a solid game that offers something new to both the roguelike and Diablo genres but may not have the wider appeal of titles such as Hades due to its focus on min-maxing and DPS over skill. The confused approach of offering game modes that actively undermine the title's central gameplay mechanic, and the current performance issues in the latter stages, are real negatives but the first can be avoided and the second is being worked on. If the idea of a roguelike Path of Exile appeals, then Hellclock may well be the game for you.

The game has a very original theme, a considerable number of build options, several ways to improve our character, an interesting replayability factor, and also an easy-to-pick-up-and-play gameplay. On the downside, I can only mention that the enemies have too much health at times, and that the plot could explore its potential more.

Hell Clock is a game that doesn't just try to copy the genre's successful formulas. It introduces its own unique concept—a relentless time limit—and weaves it into a compelling story inspired by real historical events. It combines fast-paced action, the variety of roguelite mechanics, and a distinctive visual style with an atmospheric soundtrack.

Hell Clock is easy to recommend to players who want a solid, enjoyable, and polished roguelike, but it's definitely not the lightning in a bottle that will reinvent the tried and true genre.
