Hob: The Definitive Edition

We've been stung before with ports of console and PC games - especially those lauded for the size and intricacy of their worlds - but Panic Button has proved, once again, that it really does know how to do the right games justice within the constraints of Switch's hardware design.

All that being said, Hob is still a solid title with a good amount of content. You're looking at 10 hours easily with even more if you're going for 100% completion. While certainly not of the same quality of a Legend of Zelda or even Hyper Light Drifter, Hob still has some great entertainment value if you're looking for a good adventure/exploration game.

Hob: The Definitive Edition adds a number of quality of life improvements to a solid Action-Platformer with an impressive aesthetic.

Design and technical issues aside, Hob: The Definitive Edition is a solid little dungeon crawler that will hopefully find a new, more appreciative audience on the Nintendo Switch.

With a deceptively linear quest and extremely accessible challenges, it is unsurprising that Hob: Definitive Edition, like RiME, is not the most cerebral challenge. It is, instead, a gorgeous journey that dutifully sweeps you away into another world.

Overall, the new port is solid in execution and the indie title is perfectly suited for the Switch.

Hob: The Definitive Edition is an enchanting adventure, no doubt, and one that lasts quite a while.

Although it has a slow start, Hob: The Definitive Edition opens up into a fruitful and unforgettable journey with solid gameplay.

Hob: The Definitive Edition is not going to blow you away with its design but it is a solid adventure game nonetheless. The Nintendo Switch version does end up making it the definitive edition due to some quality-of-life changes and minor improvements putting it on equal foot next to the console and PC version.

EXCELLENT - So many developers try to ape the Zelda formula and most fail. Hob: The Definitive Edition is one of the few that succeeds and delivers a fun and entertaining action/adventure experience that is both unique and exciting. A few performance issues can’t hold back an otherwise excellent game that belongs on your Switch home screen.
