Basically a good, traditional management strategy, with decent community development, but it starts to become stereotyped quite quickly and you can miss some more excitement and gradation. Basically, the threat is negligible, a little skill is enough and everything works without any major problems.

There’s a lot of potential here, but I think this game is missing something and didn’t provide the reward or payoff I was hoping for, despite its promising premise.

While it may not appear as glamorous as Scientology, Honey, I Joined a Cult is deceptively addictive. Its alluring capacity to let you micro-manage down to the tiniest detail, its swathe of customisable components, and its cheeky writing will leave you obsessed and indoctrinated (if only for a few hours). It takes a fair amount of grinding to build up a cult worth following, but those with the patience to stick around will find a decent amount of management-sim goodness to worship here.

A nice idea for a management sim that is partly hindered by a too much guided gameplay and a distinctive lack of originality in the basic gameplay.

Honey, I Joined a Cult deploys the same cynicism already seen in Cult of the Lamb to decline it in a totally managerial sauce, and it does so with great success.

You spend a lot of time earning cultists and belief here. The main issue is that my cult is boring.

Honey, I Joined a Cult has multiple components, and they all work well together. Its customization options add a layer of replayability that isn't often found in management sims. However, it the well will run dry for some.

Every good cult member knows how it is always better to be the one ringing the bell than it is to be the one opening the door. In this way Honey, I Joined a Cult opens the way forward to a wonderfully engrossing management sim with more gameplay options than it rightfully ought to have. Even though it does not bring much new gameplay to the table, it offers enough through engrossing management and a brilliant 70s aesthetic to keep players engaged for hours of addictive play.

Honey, I Joined a Cult is a good tycoon game that really puts you in the chair for a long time. We can only hope that the developers don't give up on it and add more additional content. This title has a real potential to catch up with much better games, such as the aforementioned Prison Architect.
