Hungry Meem lets you rebuild an entire civilization through dungeon exploration. Rebuilding a civilization through gathering and cooking food is enjoyable. Not being able to control your Meems is tough and it often feels like the game is constantly holding your hand. It’s a decent management experience but the experience isn’t as fun as it could be.

Hungry Meem is a unique, sometimes exhausting strategy simulation that blends chaos and charm in equal measure. It's the kind of game where watching your village slowly thrive feels satisfying, but getting there is a bumpy, often repetitive road. Between the Meems' antics, the overlapping progression systems, and the sheer weirdness of it all, there's a peculiar joy in trying to make everything work. It's not for everyone, but it might be exactly what you're looking for if you're craving something experimental, unpolished, and full of strange heart.

Suffers from having relatively simple gameplay whose controls too are cumbersome, in the end making the juice hardly worth the squeeze

The best way to describe Hungry Meem is rough around the edges. There are a number of great elements of this game that are overshadowed by some smaller issues. Watching time count down to the end of the day whilst the Meems are still struggling to pick up sticks and berries really just ruined the ease of playing the game. Overall this is a decent game but the never ending attempts to eat the different materials as well as the Meems just struggling to gather, regardless of their level, made it a hard experience to enjoy at times. Ultimately this has led me to giving Hungry Meem the Thumb Culture Silver Award.

It's time to save the Meems and the World Tree!

It takes big swings with its mechanics and world-building, and while not every idea lands, the overall experience is rewarding if you're willing to meet it halfway. Think of it like a quirky meal from a diner you’ve never heard of: a little messy, surprisingly complex, and oddly satisfying. For fans of life sims, creature breeding, or games that embrace chaos and creativity, this might be your next obsession. Just be ready to micromanage your way through snack rations, feast prep, and the occasional Meem meltdown.

I adore the art style of Hungry Meem, it’s vibrant, and whimsical. The concept of the game is great, and there is clearly a lot of passion in how the game has been developed. The bombardment of instructions gets less as you progress through the game, making Hungry Meem flow better and more pleasant to play.
