When Kaku: Ancient Seal is at its best, it shows the potential of a great sandbox adventure. Many of the design choices are spot on. Great examples are the choices to focus more on horizontal progression than vertical, and to fill the world with rewarding respawning items. However, at its worst, it is filled with some of the genre's worst design choices. The main offenders are cruel invisible walls and non-existent enemy progression. In between, Kaku: Ancient Seal is depressingly textbook good. Sure, the game works, but nothing stands out, and the polish to make it memorable is lacking. However, it does leave curiosity about what future titles Bingobell will deliver with more experience under its belt.

Overall, KAKU: Ancient Seal is a solid and engaging open-world action-adventure that successfully blends exploration, puzzle-solving, and dynamic combat into a cohesive experience. The game shines in its challenging boss fights, fluid controls and rewarding gameplay. The game is not without its shortcomings: a lack of voice acting, sometimes underwhelming character models, and cutscenes that don’t match the quality of the gameplay. Despite these minor issues, KAKU: Ancient Seal offers a unique and satisfying experience.

KAKU: Ancient Seal is far from perfect, but it’s by no means a bad title. The problem, however, is that there’s competition out there that often offers more — and in a better form.

Kaku: Ancient Seal is one of those games that reminds me why I love discovering smaller projects. It’s ambitious, heartfelt, and fun, even when it stumbles. The team at BINGOBELL clearly poured their hearts into this world, and it shows.

KAKU:Ancient Seal offers a solid adventure with versatile gameplay, engaging exploration in a colorful, primitive world. However, the story fails in developing the protagonist, and the game suffers from repetition due to an excessive number of puzzles in some activities.

With great ideas, Kaku: Ancient Seal runs up against the limits of its budget and delivers a good adventure that could have been excellent.

If you want my honest opinion, Kaku: Ancient Seal is a very enjoyable title despite the combat issues. It has a very appealing narrative that, while not groundbreaking, is entertaining and enjoyable.

KAKU – Ancient Seal will not be on everyone’s radar. This indie game doesn’t get everything right, but I enjoyed it regardless. The story is great and the characters are lively, interesting, and likeable. Furthermore, the open world is a treat to look at. Although the combat is too easy, I liked the pace, the setting, and the brilliant atmosphere. Accordingly, I think it is good and I recommend getting a copy from the Xbox store!
