Push past its one-note campaign and Last Epoch is an impressive, time-bending action RPG that combines rich customization with modern action.

A versatile build system allows for experiments with deep skill trees and unusual crafting mechanics - but after the initial excitement of creating those builds, momentum fades.

With its emphasis on crafting and trading rather than action, Last Epoch puts the cart before the horse.

Last Epoch is a worthy mid-point ARPG that has fun with its fantasy time travelling world, and makes crafting and building towards percentage point increases actually rewarding. Even fun!

I'm hoping 11th Hour has more in store for Last Epoch's future as well. There's a strong foundation to build on, both from narrative and combat perspectives, and more than that, I just want an excuse to spend more time in Last Epoch.

Last Epoch is an ARPG that has great ideas on paper but often stumbles when trying to implement them. But if you somehow persist in climbing that first ramp, the rest goes downhill anyway...

Last Epoch is truly the perfect middle ground between Diablo 4 and Path of Exile, but this feature is not enough to make it a masterpiece of action RPGs.

All in all, Last Epoch is a decent experience, but nothing more. We particularly appreciate the customization of our characters' abilities and the management of the numerous upgrade systems. On the other hand, the game never manages to shake off the impression of déjà vu it leaves us with. The insipid narrative and its generic bestiary, but above all the game's inability to make us feel competent and powerful, mar our desire to play again. Both in the short and long term.

Last Epoch is a hack and slash isometric RPG that is graphically well made but above all accessible to a non-hardcore audience. You progress without great difficulty and dying does not involve any particular penalties as seen in soulslikes. The few and trivial starting classes can generate thousands of different builds thanks to specializations, crafting, perks and talents to be assigned in the skill tree. History, as always, plays a marginal role, but the introduction of time travel makes it interesting to wander through the same regions in various eras. Handling the Endgame will determine long-term success, but at the moment it's an RPG worth checking out.
