Why play it

A souls-like action-RPG with lots of battles and exploration. Defeat your enemies, steal their weapons, and uncover the secret of the stronghold.

Story and worldbuilding

The story takes place in an old stronghold, at the last days of a great battle. You died, but your will was stronger than your body, so you woke up again, to continue the siege in a never ending night. Remembering little more than your purpose, you'll have to leave the dungeons, advance through the stronghold's outskirts, and reach the most high tower. To find the Heir and end your curse.

A pretty old-school and minimalist dungeon-crawling adventure with somewhat challenging combat and puzzles

ast Night of Winter is not the kind of game that the average casual gamer should be picking up. Most people will give up on it quickly saying it’s too difficult or too boring outside of the combat.

Last Night of Winter is a fantastic Pixel Souls game that impresses with its unique humour. With a playing time of approx. 4 hours, the game offers a short story, but the atmospheric overall package is convincing. The playing time varies depending on the level of difficulty selected. However, it must be said that there is no New Game+ after playing through the game. Once the game has been played through, it starts all over again as if all memories had disappeared.
