All in all, Lost Eidolons is a fairly ambitious outing that just about sticks the landing, despite some seriously rough edges.

At its heart and soul, Lost Eidolons is a solid turn-based strategy game with rich RPG elements and a well-written story that draws you into a world where chance and tactical ingenuity intertwine. It’s not without its flaws—occasional sluggishness, lengthy dialogues, or a somewhat limited branching decision system may bother some players—but its strengths far outweigh these weaknesses.

Lost Eidolons is a turn-based tactical RPG that draws players into a medieval fantasy world torn by war. With grid-based combat, a morally complex story, and intricate strategy mechanics, it’s a journey for fans who enjoy detailed planning and decision-making. Minor technical issues aside, it’s a worthwhile adventure for tactical RPG enthusiasts.

Lost Eidolons has many great things going for it. However, it isn’t perfect by any means. Despite its issues, its positive aspects triumph overall. The story always kept pulling me in and evoking emotions that not many games can do for me these days. Lost Eidolons is a game that might take some time to get attached to. But once you get in the swing of things, it hooks you, and you’re in for the ride. Lost Eidolons is available on Xbox, PlayStation, and PC platforms. The game has an MSRP of $34.99 which is a great price for how much I enjoyed the game.

Although its story and presentation elements wear a little thin after a promising start, there is nonetheless plenty to enjoy thanks to a decently deep battle system that offers plenty of challenge for those who want it. It’s a strong debut that offers plenty of optimism for the developer’s future projects.

Lost Eidolons is a serviceable RPG with moments of brilliance. It is a game with consistently fun and occasionally tedious gameplay. Paired with a poor story and characters that have no interesting qualities, the game is the definition of a mixed bag and an ambitious game that seemed to reach too far.

Those who prefer strategic role-playing games will find a lot to like in Lost Eidolons. The game's static speech background could use some improvements, but for those who can see beyond these little annoyances, Lost Eidolons really offers something unique. There is certainly space for growth and a few bugs that need ironing out, while its many existing strengths make it one of the finest SRPGs of 2022.

It's hard not to respect and get swept up in the ambition of Lost Eidolons, where even the flaws and mediocre presentation is made worthwhile with some competent, classic SRPG gameplay.

I have some qualms when it comes to a few technical, artistic and character writing elements, and I feel like the level design could have been more varied and developed from the start, but I have no doubt Lost Eidolons offers, like no other tactical RPG so far a mash-up between Fire Emblem and an immersive, tragic and epic western aesthetic. I hope sequels may explore the Artemesia continent further and make it even more interesting. Ocean Drive Studio's debut game has a solid and consistent audiovisual [aspect], it's well written for its aims and its gameplay should please newbies in the genre (in casual mode) as well as veterans, playing on normal or higher and with permadeath on.
