Frustrations aside, Men of War 2 is a fresh and ambitious take on a genre that's usually comfortable staying the same. I wish I had more time to sink into its massive multiplayer matches, but even when I don't, I'm still pleased with how strong the single-player experience is. Sure, it doesn't require the same level of strategy as taking on a human opponent, but Men of War 2's inventive mechanics keep you on your toes anyway.
Read full review ↗I won't recommend Men of War II unless the internet requirement is lifted. They didn't seem to back down at first, but that may change. Even if this is fixed, we have a watered down MoW game even in the best case scenario.
Read full review ↗Men of War II played at being Princess Scooter and arrived in the world half-baked. It’s not a completely bad game, but even after fixing the flaws of the initial release, it’s unlikely it will ever be a great game. However, if it’s really piqued your interest, wait at least a few months for the developers to smooth out the rough edges.
Read full review ↗Men of War II is a deeply strategic and intense title that makes every decision, whether big or small, mean something.
Read full review ↗Continuity with the past has always been part of Men of War's modus operandi, but this makes the absence of half the factions all the more jarring. The campaigns also seem to prioritize quantity over quality, and this is especially obvious in the voiceover department.
Read full review ↗Men of War 2 offers many hours of fun and you can unlock a huge amount of units. The game contains a large number of modes for single-player RTS players and this is a game that you can easily purchase without ever touching the multiplayer. The battles feel impactful and the direct control provides a breath of fresh air compared to many other RTS titles. It is such a shame to see that the interface, always online and the average AI mainly get in the way of the game. But in recent days the game has already received a large number of updates and I hope that the developer will continue to support the game and that the game can last another ten years without any problems.
Read full review ↗Men of War II is a solid RTS marred by clunky controls and complicated gameplay, but its worst offense is requiring an internet connection, even for single-player modes. Without that requirement (which, again, is currently meant to change sometime post-launch) and with just a little polish to the controls, UI, or both, this could be a must-have for RTS/WW2 buffs. Fans of the series will probably have an easier time diving in, while new players are likely to find themselves completely lost without going through the tutorials. On the whole, the game feels solid, looks good, sounds good, and has a lot of potential, and its flaws aren't so bad they can't be polished out.
