Throughout my time in Metal Eden, I couldn’t help but imagine just how good a sequel I hope Reikon makes could be. This is a great start in the FPS genre for the team; its ideas are strong, and with refinement, Aska’s next mission could be as excellent as the Ghostrunner and Doom Eternal adventures it’s clearly inspired by. Though the star of the show – its first-person shooting and movement – is sometimes weighed down by an overreaching narrative and boring morph ball sections, when Metal Eden shines, it’s as bright as the sun that sheds light on Moebius’ dark underbelly.
Read full review ↗Metal Eden hits hard with relentless combat and style, but a short campaign, thin exploration, and a forgettable story keep its spark from lasting.
Read full review ↗Metal Eden is a fast-paced boomer shooter FPS that takes the best from its inspirations. The weapons and abilities are perfectly balanced. Parkour is fluid and fun. The distant post-apocalyptic future settings are appropriately gloomy and beautiful. While the gameplay isn’t original, it’s incredibly immersive. The great atmosphere is enhanced by excellent sound design, awesome music, and a simple yet high-quality story. A minor flaw is its shorter length, though I wasn’t bored even once. The sense of accomplishment is great, and if you’re still hungry for more, try New Game+ with a significantly increased difficulty. I played on Normal, and with a gamepad, it was just right.
Read full review ↗Metal Eden is a great first-person shooter with tons of great moments. A must buy for those that like a lot of cyber-punk themed violence.
Read full review ↗METAL EDEN is an artistic achievement. The sci-fi game impresses with stunning visual direction and masterful audio design, and the soundtrack by Sonic Mayhem delivers a pulse-pounding experience. Although the combat mechanics borrow heavily from genre staples, the concentrated 6-hour campaign respects players' time and compensates with style and artistic intention. The result is a solid, if familiar, sci-fi FPS that punches above its weight class.
Read full review ↗Metal Eden is a respectable “one and done” experience that might be fun to replay years later, but the initial experience will leave players wanting more. It’s too bad that the game is too stingy with itself.
Read full review ↗Metal Eden presents itself as a visually striking yet brief action experience, boasting innovative gameplay mechanics. However, the game falls short in terms of boss encounters and narrative.
Read full review ↗The Polish studio behind Ruiner returns with a frantic cyberpunk FPS that moves at full speed, sometimes too much for his own good.
Read full review ↗Metal Eden owes a lot to games like Ghostrunner and Doom, but it's far from a slavish clone. Thanks to its far-future setting, dystopian premise, core-ripping mechanic, and bold production design, it feels like its own thing.
Read full review ↗2025 has had a deluge of top-tier games, and I fear Metal Eden might not be remembered for long. The game already has decent accessibility options, control customization, and difficulty settings – but there is not much encouragement to continue once the game is over.
