Mullet Mad Jack is a no-nonsense FPS that's super stylish and a lot of fun in short bursts.

If you’ve ever had thoughts of throwing your phone away or abandoning the internet to its robotic rulers, Mullet MadJack taps into that frustration. The neon nostalgia of a better era is fertile ground for a game that feels like beating a microwave to death with a crowbar.

Mullet Madjack offers a fun mix of Doom’s fast-paced action, Neon White’s style, and old-school anime vibes, with an exciting and creative gameplay system. Even with some small issues like being too fast at times and similar-looking levels, the variety in gameplay modes and the fun combat make it a short but very enjoyable experience worth trying.

Mullet Madjack shows an expert understanding of old-school anime and doesn’t compromise on its message at any point. It’s quite clear that the developer harbors a deep love for the media that the game pays homage to, and its art style goes beyond just being a superficial aesthetic choice, firmly rooting itself into the game’s tone and everything that surrounds it.

Mullet MadJack is a violent, gory, and raunchy game that would have fit the 90's well. To be honest, that's its main strength. It knows exactly what kind of game it wants to be and who it’s targeting; it’s unapologetic with its violence and humor, and it’s really addictive and just a good time. This game knows what made the 90's cool and reminds us why it is still cool to this day. So grab a lollipop and shoot some bots.

Mullet MadJack is a game about vibes, which I can only describe as being immaculate. It’s such a simple gameplay loop with a constant forward momentum that helps it overcome problems shooters traditionally have on consoles, especially the Switch. It’s hard to miss things when they’re right in front of you and you’re only ever running forward. Despite the motion sickness and photosensitivity problems that handheld mode can exacerbate, at least in my experience, and despite the irritating micro-bump in load times, it’s still a smooth and enjoyable experience on the Switch. Now, whenever the dark, corporate future-now is getting you down, you can easily whip out a dark, corporate future-past – and kick shoot it in the face!

MULLET MADJACK isn't a game that asks for much. Pick it up, point your weapon at robots, and try not to blink too much. What it gives back in return is a relentlessly entertaining, aesthetically nostalgic slice of controlled chaos that somehow makes its repetition feel like a feature and not a shortfall. It's brutal, it's pretty silly, and it absolutely earns every second of your time.

Its over-the-top approach to almost everything it offers you can feel overwhelming, but there's no denying just how fun it is to play! Dashing through stages that last mere moments is such a blast that I had a hard time putting down my Switch. It's a breath of fresh air to play a game that has something to say, but presents it in a style that we almost never see or hear anymore. Mullet MadJack is a wild ride and one that almost every FPS fan should play.
