Expansions are rare when it comes to fighting games, but Road to Boruto manages to add a reasonable chunk of content to a brawler that's already stuffed with things to do. Most of what's on offer is nothing new, but if you've been looking for an excuse to leap back into CyberConnect 2's super polished title, then this additional adventure is as good a reason as any.

Thanks to some welcome changes to its core systems – mainly the improved battle mechanics and the great onus on story content – Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm 4 Road to Boruto is the most accomplished and enjoyable instalment in the series yet. While it's certainly more for the hardcore Naruto crowd, it's nevertheless a meaty package with an impressively vast roster, a huge amount of unlockable content and the addition of the film-tie in for the Baruto storyline. If you love all things Naruto, this fourth instalment is a must-have addition to your ninja collection.

Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm 4 Road to Boruto is a game that arrives with a bit of a delay to the Nintendo Switch but that doesn't mean that it loses out on its main assets. If fans of the Naruto series and of the Ultimate Ninja Storm games in particular will appreciate the immersion in the Naruto world, newcomers will be nicely treated to a game of accessible learning that features an in-depth combat experience, a very wide cast of characters and an involving online component.

Road to Boruto is a terrific port of a series I had very little experience with. It’s easily accessible, loads of fun to play, and it never ceases to amaze with its scope and grandiosity. It might not be enough for me to dive into the anime, but certainly enough to keep me interested for many more hours down the road.

A port to the Switch along with all content up to Road to Boruto makes this release of Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm 4 well worth picking up.

EXCELLENT - The latest entry in the Ninja Storm franchise continues to build upon what the popular series is known for: over the top ninja action. If you’re a fan of Naruto you won’t be disappointed. This one doesn’t miss.

Due to the limitations of the Nintendo Switch’s resolutions, the visuals may not be at its best, but all of its contents are firmly ported to the handheld. The explosive visuals do not disappoint even if compared to the high quality anime scene of its original IP, thanks to the consistent frame rate that keeps up with the action. The best thing about this port is some of the free contents you can experience which you may have missed out since it’s original release.
