In the end, Nickelodeon Extreme Tennis: Next! is not a deep or competitive tennis simulation, nor does it aspire to be. Instead, it offers a cheerful, chaotic, and relatively inexpensive cartoon party game that thrives when enjoyed with friends on the couch.

Extreme Tennis has a bunch of colorful characters, tons of matches, and a stack of ultimate moves. But without enough variety in the moment, these things fall pretty flat.

Nickelodeon Extreme Tennis: Next! manages to provide a few hours of entertainment thanks to its accessible approach and its charming cast of characters from the brand’s famous franchises. The arcade-style tennis gameplay is generally well-executed, the special powers add a bit of personality to the matches, and the co-op mode is a welcome addition. However, the initial fun quickly fades due to extremely repetitive progression, limited content, and a clear lack of variety in the courts and activities on offer. The game constantly gives the impression that it could have offered so much more. I hope future updates will enhance the experience!

Nickelodeon Extreme Tennis: Next! For fans of arcade sports games, Nickelodeon crossovers, or just anyone looking for a colorful multiplayer experience. Next up is a pleasant surprise, with far more depth than you might expect from its mobile origins.

Nickelodeon Extreme Tennis: Next! is a fun arcade tennis game built around quick matches, character abilities, power-ups, and local 1v1 play. Story Mode and cosmetic unlocks put some structure around solo play, but the missing online multiplayer holds it back once couch matches run their course. If you have someone nearby and want a fun Nickelodeon sports game, it’s an easy pick. If you need online competition or deeper tennis, its limits show quickly.

This is another Nickelodeon dud in the video game space in 2026. While the tennis can be fun at times, the overall execution falls short. There’s not enough content, the music is horrible, and some of the gameplay can feel awkward while returning shots. The power-ups are cool for the most part, but it doesn’t save Nickelodeon Extreme Tennis: Next! from mediocrity.
