Why play it

Pic-a-Pix is a picture logic game, sometimes known as Picross, Nonogram or Hanjie, where whimsical pixel-art pictures are created by solving puzzles. In Pic-a-Pix Pieces, large pictures have been split into a number of smaller pieces. Each piece is a puzzle grid, and by solving them all you’ll form a mosaic that reveals a spectacular final image. Play alone or solve puzzles with friends! Co-op play supports up to 4 players. There are more than 300 puzzle grids, from 10x10 to 20x20. They come together to form 20 huge, colourful pictures.

If I want to sit down and spend some time on a puzzle game that I know will hold my attention, I'll play nonograms. But where Picross is like the local pizza place that really cares about giving you the best slice around, Pic-a-Pix Pieces is more like the college food court that you only eat at when you're in between classes and short on time. It's still good, and I still recommend it, but there are other people out there putting a lot more time and effort into making this exact product.

I love this type of puzzle game, and Pic-a-Pix Pieces had me playing for hours and hours as I took con completing each of the pieces to the larger images, as I aimed to complete all of them without using the fit option so that I could get that shiny gold medal for the final image. I'll definitely be getting the two DLC packs since more puzzles is exactly what I'll want to play as soon as I finish the last one included in the main game. Go buy Pic-a-Pix Pieces!

Pic-a-Pix Pieces is the perfect evolutions from Pic-a-Pix Color, which Lightwood Games gave us last year. Instead of solving ~150 self-contained Picross puzzles, we’re solving over 200 10×10 – 20×20 puzzles which combine together to make bigger images. As such, the difficulty is ramped up a little due to no smaller grids and the fact you’re working on part of a puzzle and not an entire image. However, The game is fully accessible to fans of the Picross logic puzzle and also new players who have never experienced them before as the game brings you in gently and explains everything as you go.

Pic-a-Pix Pieces is more of the same nonogram puzzles, with nothing new to bring to party. It's functional and simple, but don't expect anything more.
