The Gods are unforgiving, punishing, and sometimes frustrating, but this is about you pleasing them and not vice versa. You will purse your lips, grit your teeth, and furrow your brow in your journey to restore the Legendary Sampo by pleasing these Pagan Lords. Miracles are called so for a reason though, they are hard to come by and not easy to find but leave you elated when they happen. Please the Gods succeeds in relating that elation to the player, no matter the path nor hardships I encountered with this game, I always felt like next time will be the time I finally succeed.

There are a few necessary elements for a good RPG: easy to understand mechanics, interesting characters, and an engaging story. Unfortunately, Please the Gods failed to impress in 2 of the three categories. Please the Gods is an odd combination of outstanding graphics and mechanics, brought down by lacklustre story and sound, make this one a difficult one to judge. So unfortunately we find the turn-based RNG-reliant combat was too frustrating for the game to be enjoyable. But for someone who enjoys that type of game and is capable of looking past the lacking story elements it’d be good fun.

There's certainly something to be said for games going out on a limb and trying out ideas and systems that are different, however in the case of Please the Gods I'm not sure how well it works out...
