Why play it

Rainbows, Toilets & Unicorns is a fast-paced shoot 'em up / bullet hell! The player will have to progress through enemies waves and beat the 15 bosses in the game. There are 5 different and completely crazy worlds! As any good shoot'em up of course the player can also use a special power, the Rainbow splash! Collecting coins makes the shot more and more powerful!

There are times when you just know a game is going to be great. When its by a studio you know and trust, or when it’s a title in a series you have played since you were a kid. Then, sometimes, there is a game that comes along that sells you on the title alone. This is one of those games. I mean, who hasn’t wanted to write Rainbows, Toilets, and Unicorns in a sentence before.

Despite having some good, and simplistic game play, players may find that it can get repetitive and become frustrating with the one life per level restriction. Luckily for Fantastico Studio, they have done a tremendous job with the ambiance and hilarious levels that may be just enough to keep some players engaged until the end.

Rainbows, Toilets & Unicorns is a ridiculous game but once you put the spectacle aside, you're left with a mostly standard shmup.

I can’t help but feel that a good chunk of Rainbows, Toilets and Unicorns‘ issues could have been mitigated with the addition of a life system. Since the silly visuals aren’t the reason you’d want to keep on playing it for too long, fixing how ridiculously unfair this game can be would have turned it into a much more enjoyable experience. As for now, all we have is a shooter that, despite featuring really good controls, doesn’t feature other good selling points.
