Road Maintenance Simulator 2: Winter Services

If you couldn’t tell by my review above, Road Maintenance Simulator 2 – Winter Services is not a good game. Through the years writing for Thumb Culture I’ve encountered games in Early Access that have more content than this game. Perhaps the gameplay is better on console, but for PC it just seems to be mostly broken and unplayable. Therefore, I have to award Road Maintenance Simulator 2 – Winter Services the Thumb Culture Broken Thumb Award. A sad day indeed.

With an atypical amount of polish and a variety of satisfying road work to complete, Road Maintenance Simulator 2 is a surprisingly good simulator. It features an excellent blend of precision versus peacefulness that is sometimes difficult for games in the genre to nail down, which makes it an easy one to recommend.

Road Maintenance Simulator 2 stands as a unique and surprisingly satisfying entry in the simulation genre. The Winter Services Update adds a refreshing layer of depth and variety, making it a standout among road maintenance games. While the graphical hiccups, occasional bugs, and technical shortcomings may frustrate some players, the authenticity and rewarding nature of the gameplay more than make up for it—especially for those willing to brave the snowy roads. For fans of simulation games or anyone looking for a unique, oddly calming experience, this is still an alright option.
