While Seafrog is a very chill and cozy game, the mechanics could become a bit difficult for some people. I already mentioned how the controls can be a bit unforgiving, and boss battles might be a bit tough. People who love challenging games will enjoy this, but you’re also going to have a lot of fun skateboarding around the ship.

Some sort of boost of adrenaline or excitement, maybe, which is why I would categorize this as a cozy game. A cozy skateboarding platforming collectathon. Really rolls off the tongue, doesn't it?.

A charming mix of side-scrolling platforming action with some skating-inspired challenges, and quite a bit of weirdness, as well

Seafrog is a delightful indie gem that has fun exploration, engaging movement controls, and a decent bit of challenge when it comes to nailing the perfect balance of movement style and speed. This game puts an interesting spin on the metroidvania genre with its skating controls, prioritizing movement tech over raw exploration.

Is there anything slicker than a frog? What about a sea frog with a rocket-powered wrench expertly grinding and sliding his way around an overflowing amount of dangerous, varied, and exciting obstacles and objectives across giant sea-faring vessels? Seafrog, developed by OhMyMe Games, is all that and more.

Seafrog is the kind of indie gem that dares to do something different, and totally sticks the landing (and the trick combo). With smooth gameplay, charming presentation, and a clever mash-up of genres, it’s a sea-soaked adventure that feels fresh at every turn. If you’ve got a love for platformers, skating games, or just weird and wonderful premises, then this frog’s for you. Strap in, hold your wrench tight, and get ready to grind the high seas in style.

Seafrog has reeled me back in time and time again with its upbeat, humorous writing and stellar animations. It’s such a joy to watch our skater-mechanic seafrog do whatever they’re doing in any given moment. The various characters you meet along your journey conform to their game’s nonsensical but hearteningly silly atmosphere, leaving you with a smile, even if behind that you grit your teeth spending more time platforming and less time skating.

I enjoyed the bright cartoon aesthetic of the game. It leans into the comic explosions and bright trick text, which work really well. The visuals are a touch blurry at times but it never took away from the overall enjoyment. The fast pace of the movement meant it was barely noticeable for most of my time with it. I think the side-scrolling 2.5D style on offer was the right choice for the gameplay, it really added to the overall feel and poppy atmosphere of Seafrog.
