Uninspiring, uninteresting and utterly unremarkable, Seven Knights: Time Wanderer is an extraordinarily tedious game that it's hard to recommend to anyone but the most die-hard fans of its mobile counterpart - particularly given how many other top-quality RPGs the Switch plays host to. Even if you're an ardent follower of the franchise, we'd argue your money is much better spent elsewhere.

Does this new console RPG based on a Gacha game IP feel at home on the platform, or better suited for its mobile roots?

If you're looking for a new RPG to add to your Switch library, look no further than Seven Knights -Time Wanderer-. You'll be pleasantly surprised by its large cast of characters, gorgeous detailed scenery, and gameplay that never gets dull.

Overall, I give a lot of credit to Netmarble for a very good RPG especially since it was originally designed for mobile and then had to be changed up to meet the needs of the traditional console game. I have enjoyed playing it for hours on end and it is worth every penny of the $19.99 USD that is being charged for it on the Switch. It is simple to learn and play through and fun for anyone who likes RPGs.

An affordable game with a full character dialog dub is a rare combination, but an RPG that tried its best to bring you as much contents it can, the pricing of just under $20 and especially if you were a fan of their original game, it’s well worth the spend to explore the stories of your favorite characters. The only nitpicks would be where the game’s UI could have taken more advantage of the Nintendo Switch’s key features.

Honestly though, when you take everything into consideration, Seven Knights -Time Wanderer- totally blew me away. I never thought I’d have this much fun with a game inspired by mobile, but here we are. Not only is the game visually luscious, but it plays like a fast-paced dungeon crawler. Sure, it’s a bit repetitive and the plot could be better, but few games are perfect. What’s here is still incredibly solid and fun, and I’d recommend it to any old school RPG fanatic. And when you consider how inexpensive the game is, I can’t recommend it heartily enough.

Unfortunately, the game underserves both the source material and players on the Switch. While fans of the Seven Knights mobile game may enjoy this title, there are scores of more fulfilling experiences available on the console.

Seven Knights - Time Wanderer lands close to being a good streamlined JRPG, but the threadbare exploration and passable battle system aren't enough to make it stand out among the crowd. If you're a fan of the Seven Knights universe, it's likely a must play, but if you don't have that affinity, there isn't much for you here.

This is an average romp for a simple JRPG. There is no new ground treaded, and the battle system gets to be pretty repetitive. The voice acting is really well done and the battle effects are pretty good, even if you see them a lot. The major problems are that nothing new really happens, some very minor upgrades, but ultimately the same thing happening in the beginning is still happening hours and hours later.

Seven Knights: Time Wanderer is a rather straightforward attempt at a JRPG with the inclusion of a unique active battle system. There’s a ton of room to grow here in terms of improved dungeon design, less repetitive encounters, and a more interesting gameloop. Still, the story is rather good, and the character interactions are reason enough to see the adventure through until the end.
