Shanghai Summer

Even with some issues and a simplicity that can be a double-edged sword, this adventure title is a beautiful invitation for a reflection. Maybe Shanghai Summer isn't the answer to our problems, but it can definitely be that push to finally face our past regrets and yearnings for the future.

Shanghai Summer has an enjoyable story that kept me intrigued and will be a sure hit for fans of Erased or Your Name. However, there are some minor issues that may detract some players, such as grammar and some minor graphical issues.

Shanghai Summer had enough ingredients to be a memorable story but failed to do so. Sprites were pleasant at first glance but were not properly used, and the elements external to the main story end up being forgettable. Combine this with the game's bad grammar, lack of cohesion, and layout issues, and the final result is a bad structure that failed to suport the game's best element: the story.
