Slime Heroes

I think it’s a good game if you’re playing alone. I have high hopes for the co-op once it’s fixed. It’s charming and cute and playing with the spell system is a good time, and it has the ebb and flow of combat that makes Souls-likes fun. If you’re looking for a kinder, gentler Souls-like, Slime Heroes is the game for you.

While it has some good ideas like your ability to combine magic for different effects, its execution isn’t up to the task of making it reach its potential

I love what Slime Heroes represents but I have to acknowledge its shortcomings which are unfortunately plentiful. It's very cute, though! ⚔️

Slime Heroes is a game with an adorable and endearing appearance that will make more than one person come out scalded and ‘with their tail between their legs’ before the truth that it hides. The colourful environments and endearing characters are a great proposal to confront such antagonistic worlds as ‘cute’ and soulslike mechanics.

Slime Heroes is a magical kids' game with a hint of the Soulslike genre sprinkled onto it. While it's not an exact replica of the genre, there are elements of it that make it a great way to introduce the genre to a younger audience. Even if you try to set the game to easy mode, it will still challenge you regardless of whether that would be the environment or the boss' move sets. While there is not much to do in the overworld, it's still such a colourful game with a great story to tell, and your skills will be tested if you're willing to challenge yourself.

Slime Heroes is a decent enough “Babies First Dark Souls” but fails to do anything interesting with the core concept of being a Slime.

Slime Heroes is a charming soulslike that serves as a fantastic entry point for newcomers to the genre while offering plenty of fun for seasoned players. The game’s highly accessible co-op makes an already enjoyable experience even better, allowing you to share the adventure with friends or family.

I think Slime Heroes is a good choice for everyone, regardless of whether they are fans of the genre or not. Still, I think it can also count as a good first “soulslike“, very friendly

What ultimately kept me engaged in Slime Heroes wasn’t the story, but the way its mechanics all worked together to create such a compelling gameplay loop. The combat/magic system, dungeons, and world design are seamlessly intertwined, constantly pushing you to experiment and improve. I was always excited to encounter a new enemy, knowing they would have a new ability for me to unlock and try out! Slime Heroes proves that Souls-likes don’t have to be grim to be great. With its charming aesthetic and deep mechanics, it offers a fresh take on the genre—one that’s as fun for longtime fans as it is for newcomers looking for a challenge wrapped in a friendlier package.
