Spidersaurs is a fun ride while it lasts, as well as a strong love letter to Contra, all delivered with WayForward's signature style. While it is very short and suffers from some minor issues following its transfer from Apple Arcade to consoles, it's still a good time and a strong purchase for anyone itching for some classic run-and-gun action.

Spidersaurs itself isn't a bad game, but WayForward's standard is much higher. The game is very short and not as much fun as we would like.

All in all, Spidersaurs is a by the book run-and-gun game that’s sure to please fans who may feel that there haven’t been enough releases from their favorite franchises.

Still, if you can look past the faults here and don’t mind a bit of jank here and there, you’ll be able to enjoy this game well enough to get one playthrough of fun out of it at the very least, and I do believe that this formula has potential to be expanded out more in a bigger and better sequel, preferably one that doesn’t have any Apple Arcade baggage, and with hopefully a lot less jank with the co-op.

Spidersaurs is a beautiful homage to a bygone era of over-the-top '90s cartoons and challenging platformers. The game does enough to make it feel distinct from similar games, adding in special abilities and beautiful art and voice acting. The game is a challenging yet short experience. If you are a fan of Contra, you won't be disappointed.

My final thought on Spidersaurs is that it’s a great game. It pulls you in right from the start with the catchy intro, colourful art style and kickass theme tune. The gameplay is fast-moving and flows really well. It’s a game that will definitely appeal to many video game genres as well as retro gamers.

Overall Spidersaurs is a very good example of a modern take on the run and gun, whilst it doesn’t quite have the depth that some people may be looking for it certainly fills a gap in the quick play genre and is good for a travel journey or a quick game during lunch break. If you like the vibe of games like Contra, Metal Slug and TMNT then I would suggest giving this game a try.

Spidersaurs is loveable, looks fantastic, and nowhere near as hostile and hardcore as the games that inspired it.

Spidersaurs doesn't have the staying power of the great run-and-gun games, but it's decent fun while it lasts.

Spidersaurs is a run-and-gun shooter where I faced off against hordes of enemies as one of two newly hired interns. Is this adventure a blast from the past? Or is it outdated? Find out in this Rapid Review.
