Squids Odyssey

Though it is not bad, it is neither great. The basic gameplay concept is fine, and it works as a way to pass time in short bursts. It seems like it could work better if it were a pure skill game rather than the hybrid it is, and it surely would work better on mobile or handheld. The sheer volume of content available for the relatively low price is commendable, but while there is a lot to play in Squids Odyssey, there is not a lot to really love.

Squids Odyssey is the same charming package you might have played before. If you're a fan of the series, this Switch edition truly is the definitive way to experience it. It does lose touch controls when played docked, but this is an understandable design limitation of the core gameplay and far from a deal-breaking proposition. If this is your first time meeting old Winnick and his gang, you're in for quite a treat.

There is some initial appeal in Squids Odyssey and its simplicity is mildly entertaining if played in bite sized sessions. Ultimately, however, both the strategy and RPG elements of this strategy RPG fall flat.

Squids Odyssey has a lot of great content available to play from the get-go, and it's a really fun summer title to keep coming back to in the midst of all the other heavy hitters.

Squids Odyssey is a casual turn-based RPG with quirky characters and unique classes. The story is a little lackluster, but the gameplay is quick and fun.

Without overdoing it with fancy graphics, Squids Odyssey is a neat compilation of a fun franchise full of great mechanics, available on the Nintendo Switch.

If you would have told me a few weeks ago that I’d now be invested in helping a pack of squids of varying shapes and sizes thwart an oozy corruption hellbent on destroying their homeland, I would have thought that you were crazy. Heck, I still think I’m crazy for what I’m about to say about this game.

Through the game’s 8 chapters and more than 90 stages you’ll be in charge of a growing roster of squids looking to fight back ooze-infected sea creatures who threaten them...

Squids Odyssey will please anyone who decides to approach the title, either as a first experience within the genre or as experienced players looking for a long-lasting title, with original and well measured mechanics and friendly as a whole.

SQUIDS Odyssey finally gets the 3D treatment, bringing a combination of tactical strategy and lighthearted RPG fun to the 3DS.
