Near the end of the game, I had a private conversation with one of my party members, Disciple. He was a former Jedi trainee who metaphorically worshiped the Exile. My character opened up about how guilty they felt about leading others into a galactic space war, and expressed doubts as to whether the party members had followed of their own free will. Disciple didn’t wholly convince me that he was totally unaffected by the Exile’s Force sensitivity, but in 2004 it felt transgressive for KotOR 2 to interrogate the ethics of RPG protagonism. It still feels relevant in 2022, when even the most ambitious, story-rich games can’t seem to avoid centering themselves around the player. What a very important person they must be.

Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II does a solid job of building on the foundation of its predecessor, capitalizing on engaging combat, player-driven storytelling, and deep character-building systems to make for a satisfying and very replayable RPG. The downsides of this Switch port are that it's rather buggy in its launch state and the game is often content to simply repeat the ideas that made its predecessor successful without adding to them in any notable way. We've got hopes that post-launch improvements will come alongside the upcoming (and free) Sith Lord Restored Content DLC - a very welcome addition that will really complete this package. Despite its faults, we'd still give KOTOR II a strong recommendation, though we'd suggest you play the original game first and then move on to this one if you still want more.

Much like Aspyr's port of the first game, this new Switch port of Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic 2 - The Sith Lords is perhaps the best way to play this RPG!

Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic II: The Sith Lords for the Switch could’ve been a much stronger game from the get-go, but unfortunately gamers should wait for future patches and DLC before giving this port a try.

Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II: The Sith Lords had a tough act to follow, but does an admirable job of creating the next chapter in the Old Republic. As a sequel it fails to surpass the high standard set by the original, but it's still a great game and a must play for Star Wars fans.

Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic 2 - The Sith Lords translates well to the Switch, but it unfortunately suffers from severe technical problems.

My final thought on Star Wars Knights Of The Old Republic II is an absolutely fantastic game. It’s not as good as the first game in the entry but it is a sequel that would make it into any of the Top 10 lists of best sequels. The Nintendo Switch port is perfect for any Star Wars fan, whether you’re playing on tv or laying in bed on the handheld. You will easily blow away hours of your life and it is certainly worth the money.

STAR WARS: Knights of the Old Republic II: The Sith Lords is proof that it is possible to make a good STAR WARS game. However, the idea of re-releasing the game almost twenty years later, without much new content, replicating the original, simply to generate hype for the currently in-production remake of the original KOTOR, wasn't the best. At least in terms of execution: it's more of the same.

Knights of the Old Republic is a remake of a classic done right. Despite some issues with clunky gameplay and visuals, the story is entertaining, and the gameplay is engaging. The missions encourage the players to explore every inch of the mining station. Overall, it’s an enjoyable experience with an immersive story.

Both fans of Star Wars and RPGamers will find many likable features in Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II: The Sith Lords. However, in its current state, the game is barely recommendable since crashes will be present constantly.
