Special items come rapidly, through many different means. I am gifted a boombox early in the game that I can turn on to force my enemies to groove to the tunes. Each item offers genuine strategic options while maintaining the general sense of goofiness and surprise.

Streets of Rogue isn't the cheapest of rogue-lites available on the eShop, but years of developmental evolution in Early Access have resulted in the final product making it to Nintendo Switch, and while we do feel the asking price is a tad high, the amount of content you get far surpasses what you're probably expecting. RPGs are at their best when they give you a world where you can be anyone and do anything - Skyrim has built its legacy on that very concept - so if you want to be a werewolf, or a scientist, or a bartender, then this is the game for you.

How many games allow you to assassinate people as a Ninja, throw toilets at people as a Wrestler, and chloroform people as a Doctor in the same game? Just one, and it does so in complete expert fashion. At full price, the game is just $20, which is an absolute steal.

We are facing a jewel of the indie scene that will allow the player to create chaos and destruction throughout the levels that he completes, or to go completely unnoticed without anyone noticing his presence. 24 different characters, each with its own characteristics, in a roguelite that will delight lovers of the genre.

Streets of Rogue is a tiny, massive roguelite game. It features random levels, random tasks, random loot, but you can influence the world with selected skills and characters. It's a good game and even though simple, mastering it will take long hours.

Overall, Streets of Rogue is an enjoyable rogue-lite offering a new experience every time you play. Will you hack the electrics to turn off security cameras or knock on the door and go in guns blazing, there’s a play style suited to everyone. It has lots of nonsense too from taking a pill to make you a giant right through to grabbing a toilet and throwing it all over someone to poison them. The co-op is a great addition too, and definitely worth a try at some point.

Streets of Rogue brings a roguelike, procedural generated experience to a game with RPG and beat'em up elements. With its insane amount of action and degree of freedom, Streets of Rogue's play mechanics and multiplayer component make this a very enjoyable and undoubtedly recommended piece of work, and not just to fans of roguelike games.
