Super Mario Bros. Wonder’s Switch 2 Edition adds essential improvements to an already excellent platformer, with great boss battles, difficult endgame challenges, and clever cooperative minigames, even if I wish it’d gone just a bit farther with some ideas to reach its full potential.

Altogether, Super Mario Bros. Wonder + Meetup at Bellabel Park gets my qualified recommendation. If you're primarily interested in single-player Mario platforming, and especially if you've already played through the Mario Wonder campaign, this upgrade gets you a fun but short series of creative Koopaling boss fight stages, a bunch of challenge stages, an additional power-up, and new build options thanks to the Dual Badges.

Super Mario Bros. Wonder's biggest missteps involved difficulty and multiplayer, and Meetup in Bellabel Park adds new content to effectively address both of those. Super Mario Bros. Wonder was a joy to play through in 2023, and now, a few years later, it's even better.

With few standout multiplayer challenges and little compelling solo content, Bellabel Park feels overpriced and inessential next to the excellent original Switch 1 game.

Super Mario Bros. Wonder - Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Meetup in Bellabel Park is a mixed bag. On the one hand, we have an opportunity to replay Mario's best 2D adventure in years with some minuscule single-player adjustments and extra boss fights; it remains a joy from start to finish. uch sitting out this particular Switch 2 Edition.

Updating to or buying Super Mario Bros. Wonder + Meetup in Bellabel Park is not a particularly hard sell. Anyone who loves a bit of a Mario adventure or wants to revisit Mario Wonder will have a blast and enjoy the new content and visual updates. Having all the new content from Rosalina to the multiplayer addons is really neat and helps breathe new life into Super Mario Bros. Wonder.

A fantastic modern platformer made even fuller on Switch 2, with brilliant original levels, fun new boss fights, enjoyable training challenges, and useful dual badges. The added party content feels unnecessary, and the upgrade may not greatly change a fresh playthrough for returning players, but for newcomers this remains one of the best modern Mario adventures.

In the end, this feels like the definitive version of an already excellent game. If you never played Super Mario Bros. Wonder, this is an easy recommendation. If you did play it, the value of upgrading will depend on how much you want more of that experience, especially in a multiplayer setting.
