That said, I am eager to see if the game gets a sequel down the line and what kind of changes the developers implement to improve on the formula they have started cooking up here. Remember, sometimes the sequel really is better than the original.

Survive the Fall isn't a blockbuster, but it's a small, ambitious survival adventure with soul. The mix of base building, exploration, and atmospheric world works well. The creative camp building and open world are particularly appealing. However, the game sometimes gets in its own way: too much loot, too little voice, too little focus. But if you're willing to embark on the adventure and have patience, you'll find an atmospheric representative of the genre and maybe even a new home at the end of the world.

Survive the Fall is a solid take on colony management that tasks you with not only keeping your survivors alive, but manually retrieving the goods yourself via open-world exploration. The latter of this combination, however, could use a bit of work, and the game’s choice of aesthetic, characters, and narrative failed to really wow me.

Survive the Fall isn’t revolutionary, but it’s a clever blend of exploration, base-building, and storytelling. Despite its rough edges, it delivers a surprisingly deep experience, especially for fans of survival sims and post-apocalypse narratives.

Survive the Fall has a good survival foundation but the average narrative and gameplay bugs hold the game back more than it would like.
